Benji Candelario's signature soulful house/garage sound is the embodiment of his Manhattan upbringing during the culturally vibrant 70's and 80's, capturing the essence of the era and distinguishing him as a quintessential DJ, producer, remixer, and musician. Candelario who began editing tracks for close friend Aldo Marin and one of the biggest producers of the time: Arthur Baker found himself working with some of the biggest icons of the era editing tracks for: Grace Jones, The Bee Gees, Evelyn King, New Order, and Thomas Dolby to name a few. Aldo, who by then had started his own label, Cutting Records, brought Benji aboard, together producing freestyle records that soon became overnight classics, including Nitro Deluxe "Let's Get Brutal" and Hashim "Al Naafiysh/The Soul." After college, Candelario landed his first job at Capitol Records in the promotions department, working with major artists like MC Hammer and Grace Jones. Most importantly, it was there that he met Des O'Neal, a promoter for London's Choice FM, who landed Benji a gig as the weekly mix-show DJ. The show generated such an international buzz that Benji soon found himself in high demand, DJ'ing at top international venues like Ministry of Sound, Pacha, and Angels of Love. Over the years, Benji Candelario has dominated the club scene, developing an impeccable reputation as an internationally celebrated DJ and visionary producer/remixer for some of biggest artists in the industry. Flash foward to 2006-2008, Candelario has released several club hits on his new Transitori label reaffirming Candelario's lasting presence as a true dance music connoisseur. London based vocalist Ama Zedrey gives us a taste of balearic music. "You Are My House" The first single from Oscar P's upcoming 2008 album features remixes from Angel Manuel, Pete Moss, Jordan Rivera, T&A, Sirkhan, Ospina & Oscar P, Javi Lopez , Adriano Dodici, Arnaud D & Frederic Grand, DJ PremiumOne, Sean Henderson. The single will be released in two parts. One batch of remixes for the house heads, and the other for the minimal-electro house set DJs. Expect a massive campaign as the singles set up the album which drops FEB 2008.

Ama Zedrey AKA 'La Zoylita' has been deeply involved in music since a very young age. Born and bred in Mallorca, Balearic Islands. We caught up with her during a recent show in London.
Tell us about your new upcoming release(s)?
We've been having fun. Aside from working with producers like Oscar P and Davidson Ospina, I've also worked this year with Arnaud Daleo, and House Legends 'Nicky Holloway and Danny Rampling'.
How do you classify your style?
I like to identify my style as a 'Balearic Style', reason why; I am open minded and work with only emotions, therefore I like all kinds of styles of house music, my sound is created once I apply my vocal to the track, each track has a completely different feel to the other....
for that reason I like to call it Balearic sounds, meaning I like to mix all sorts of styles together depending on the feeling the music gives at the time of writing the track.
What's coming up in 2008?
I am going to be releasing a compilation of all my songs in 2008. Stay tuned for that!

Tell me about yourself and how long have you been in the music business?
I've have been a dj and I have produced tracks since the early '90s. First releasing my stuff with brands such as Virgin, Sony, UMM, Irma Records to name a few, then moving to my own labels Groove Sense Records and EM Recordings.
Tell us about your new upcoming Projects?
New album coming out on Open Bar & Deep Connectors labels. It is a collection of remixes I've made in the past year and it also features my new track "Pleasure Of The High Sense".
What artists are you working with right now?
Always dealing with my buds Oscar P and Davidson Ospina, and Im also setting up a few new projects with Baldeelox head honcho Darren Holland and a couple of singers... you'll hear soon my new stuff !

How do you classify your style?
I hate to label what I do... anyway I can't hide it is deep, maybe sometimes dark...

I had my first record released in 2004, and it was very well received. Since then I have had a release out on Goya Music, and an upcoming 6 track EP on Open Bar Music under the name Kirill featuring Sin Palabras. The project has been described as a fusion of House and World, and features live Afro-Cuban percussion with Yoruba vocals.I also host a monthly party @ Blue in Miami Beach called Simply House.
